Rev. Hsu Yang, the founder of Christian Mountain Children's Home (CMCH) along with wife Fung-Ying Ling, were touched by God’s calling together to serve others. Yang studied in Seminary in 1952, upholding the aspiration for caring for orphaned children in the mountains. Rev. Hsu Yang voluntarily chose to serve at Liugui Baptist Church in the southern rural regions of Taiwan after graduating from Seminary in 1955. It was then he started preaching the gospel and began to raise and care for orphaned aboriginal children.

In 1964, the current site of the children's home was purchased from the Taiwan Sugar Company as the number of children being cared for quickly outgrew the available living space. Seeing the founder's Christian love for Mountain children, the public began to show their support and recognition. 

Then in January 1970, the application to formally register as a non-profit was filed with the guidance of the county. Then in 1972 Christian Mountain Children's Home was recognized as an official non-profit organization. 

In March 1974, a baby girl who was born without arms was abandoned in the traditional market in Gangshan Township .  Threes days later she was brought to CMCH where, Rev. Hsu Yang and Mama Yang took great care to raise her or she might not have survived. She was named Grace EnDian Yang. Mr. Chiang, Ching-kuo, the former president, encouraged Grace EnDian every time he visited the Children’s Home. Eventually he arranged for her to go to the Zhenxing Rehabilitation Center 台北振興復健中心 for much needed spinal correction surgery.  With the care of everyone, Grace EnDian learned to paint with her foot and became a recognized mouth and foot painter. She got married in September 2004 and had a daughter and a son. Her happy family and married life are very touching.

Rev. Hsu Yang, who has a high degree of education and was an outstanding college teacher always used Confucius’ teaching “Li Yun Datong” and the inspiration of Jesus Christ in the Bible to make his lifelong career the care of disadvantaged people.

Elderly men with no spouses or children, widows, orphans, elderly people without children or grandchildren, the handicapped, the ill – all are provided for.

Rev. Yang and his wife Mama Yang both went to be with God in peaceful sleep in May 2013, 16 days apart. Rev. Yang was 103 years old at the time and Mama Yang was 83 years old.
"Make friends, raise children, and spread the gospel." This nine-character motto sums up their life philosophy, and thier wonderful life stories are still fondly remembered.

There are currently about 32 children ranging from preschool to college age in the children's home. The Non-Profit Sharing Social Welfare Foundation was established in March 2019 in remembrance of the work of Rev. Hsu Yang and Mrs. Fung-Ying Lin in order to continue their love and care for others.  This is meant to be an extention of the work of the Christian Mountain Children's Home. Its current focus continues to be on the aborigines and their surrounding communities with the objective of further extending out to care for more families and individuals in need of God's grace.
